Challenges of Living the Gospel in Perilous Times
Series: Guest Speakers
Summary
Paul wrote the books of First and Second Timothy. Unfortunately, the Bible does not provide us with the background information. However, it is apparent that when Paul was released from his Roman imprisonment at the end of Acts, he enjoyed a few more years of freedom before being re-arrested and imprisoned in Rome. Paul composed this letter while in prison for the second time, after which he was sentenced and executed by Nero. As a result, 2 Timothy is not only Paul's final letter, but it also contains a note of urgency and zeal to accomplish what he has stood for his entire life, from a man who knew he would be executed shortly.
