Students -- Are you struggling with schoolwork or looking for friends? Would you like free help with Science or Math from an experienced teacher/tutor? Or are you interested in a place to study/play games/hang out together with other students after school?
Beginning Sept 15th, high school or middle school students of all types (public, private or home) are welcome to drop by Prairie Hill Evangelical Free Church on Wednesdays from 2:30-5:30 pm for free tutoring on Science (physics, chemistry, or physical science) or Math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus) by trained personnel. Or come for a relatively quiet place to study, play games, or hang out with other students. Tutors are willing to help with any science or math homework problems you are struggling to understand, offer English or paper writing feedback, assist with ACT/SAT preparation, give advice on preparing resumes or scholarship applications, or even suggest chess strategy tips. A shelf of reference books (both academic and theological), games, snacks or drinks may also be available. At least the following two adults are planning to be regularly present: Mike Thorud (a licensed science teacher and former mechanical engineer with over 20 years of experience teaching/subbing/tutoring with EP schools, Minnetonka schools, Chan/Chaska schools, The International School, Wayzata HS, CHAT, South Heights, and one-on-one private tutoring) and Tyler Magnuson (Prairie Hill youth group director).
We are located next door to Eden Prairie High School and will follow their school year schedule. No pre-registration needed; just drop in whenever the Free Tutoring sign is by the church parking lot entrance (planned for most Wednesday afternoons between 2:30 - 5:30). Students are also welcome to stay past 5:30 for the mealtime and youth group activities of Wednesday evenings.
